About Thornton Watlass Cricket Club

Quite Simply the quirkiest ground in Britain!

With its trees, road, slope and posts, Thornton Watlass is the essence of local village cricket in the heart of North Yorkshire.

TWCC’s ground is located on the village green. The club has played there for more than a century – the actual number is a subject of debate, with some thinking it may be nearer 170 years.

The senior team are established in Division Two of the Nidderdale League, with a strong local following home & away. Along with a successful youth setup & women's side. With tradition & strong community core running throughout the club, TWCC constantly punches above its weight on & off the field.

After any match both teams can simply step over the boundary and straight into the local pub, the Buck Inn. Which is something unique to 'The Home of Cricket'.
